HOW IT WORKS
The IRWIN® HANSON® Ultimate Experience will award the top two students from the SkillsUSA Automotive Service Technology competition the chance of a lifetime. From September 13th – 19th, these students will work alongside hot rod mechanics and legends to build and rebuild one of NHRA’s most famous Top Fuel Dragsters. After an intense week of training in the Doug Herbert Race Shop, they will be knee deep in the trenches of the NHRA pits, ready to twirl the iron while rebuilding the dragster, heat after heat, until the final race for the trophy. In addition to other prizes awarded by various sponsors, IRWIN HANSON will award the first place winners of the secondary (high school) and post-secondary levels of the SkillsUSA Automotive Service Technology competition an all expense paid trip to the Charlotte, North Carolina area. For eight days, the winners and a guest will get a behind the scenes look at the exciting world of NHRA Top Fuel drag racing.
SkillsUSA programs help to establish industry standards for job skill training in the lab and classroom, and promote community service. These programs include local, state and national competitions in which students demonstrate occupational and leadership skills. At the annual national-level SkillsUSA Championships, more than 5,400 students compete in 91 occupational and leadership skill areas.
