I use 1/16" x 12" bits for a pilot holes to make sure I am not going to run into something before I cut a hole. I recently purchased one that snapped in two after just a couple holes. I called Irwin up and they sent a replacement with-in just a few days, I have since drilled many holes with it with no problems. Great drill bits and great customer service!
